When Shilpa had a baby two years ago, she was ready for the challenges of motherhood.
But giving every ounce of her time, attention and love to her son, left little time to care for herself.
Her health and well-being often took a back seat and the struggle to lose weight left her feeling helpless, depressed and like she would never rediscover her ‘old’ self.
After trying unsuccessfully to lose weight for more than a year, she was ready to give up when a chance conversation with her friend put Ultimate Performance Kensington on her radar and she started her own transformation journey.
Now in what feels like a heartbeat, Shilpa says her life has been refreshed – she has lost the weight and feels great again.
“Having a baby and getting as big as I was makes you think that you will never go back to being the person you were again and this just goes to show that that’s just not true – sure your body is different, but nothing can stop you from looking as great as before.
“You walk into a shop, pick a pair of jeans, and they fit. There is nothing more pleasing than that!
“I am 24 weeks in, and I have lost 20kg and 20% body fat.
“I am actually wearing a dress that I wore when I was 22! To be able to do that is great.”

Her fitness problems started after her son was born; as she concentrated on taking care of the baby, her fitness and diet took a backseat.
Months turned into years, and the pregnancy weight just stayed on.
“To be honest, I was looking after my baby, and he was my primary concern; I was kind of an afterthought.
“I didn’t think about what I was eating at all, I didn’t worry about what I was doing too much about myself.
“So diet was ‘you name it, I ate it’.”
Shilpa’s whole lifestyle revolved around looking after her little one. Her own health and well-being was the last thing on her mind.
“I definitely didn’t have any sort of an active lifestyle.
“I joined a gym but never really went to it. So, basically, I made all the mistakes that people with good intentions make.”
It wasn’t until it started really impacting the way she felt about herself that Shilpa really took notice.
“I had this overwhelming sense of feeling very miserable and desperate.
“I was at a point where I didn’t know what else to do.
“Everything that I was doing was not working and everything I was trying to do, I was giving up on very easily.
“So, I was actually very miserable towards other people as well. I don’t think I was a very nice person.”
U.P. turned out to be a lifesaver for Shilpa – it gave her the structure and guidance she needed.
With the support of her personal trainer, she finally found the motivation to stick to a programme. Also, the quick weight loss in the initial weeks satisfied her impatience to see results and helped her trust the process.
“My gym sessions with my trainer, Aoife, have been challenging; she pushed me way beyond what I thought I could do and she has paid attention to every detail surrounding my diet and lifestyle outside of the gym.
“Without her precise direction and endless encouragement, including excellent hacks on how to beat those cravings, I simply would not have achieved these results.
“At U.P. every aspect of a transformation is taken seriously, and once the results start coming, you remain committed and motivated to push as far as you can go – I did not want to leave my experience thinking I could have done more.
“Sure, there are days when it’s hard, and you think ‘God, just give me a chocolate’, but you see the big picture.”

It has been a lifestyle 180 for Shilpa. Things she believed were impossible at the start are now just a seamless part of her everyday life – and diet is one of them.
“I never ever thought that I would eat the way that I do now. It’s completely different.
“I mean, a lot of it has to do with willpower, but a lot of it is also about just being aware. Just looking at things and thinking – is that actually worth it?”
The changes go even deeper: Shilpa got the physical transformation she desired, but it came with a host of other benefits too.
“If I think of how I feel now, it’s just worlds apart from what I was 20 weeks ago. I am a completely new person.
“I am much more agreeable to be around, I am much nicer to friends and family.
“Being able to run around after your two-year-old and not feeling horrific afterwards is huge. My energy and performance in the work environment have massively improved.
“U.P. has been a game changer for me. It has made me more confident, agreeable, and strong in every aspect of my life. I should have done it years ago!”
