I had been weight training for several years in an attempt to create a Men’s Health type physique but never achieved any real success despite working with a couple of local personal trainers and being very dedicated to my goals. I blamed useless genetics, but now I realise that there is no need to impose such limitations.
It wasn’t until I was lucky enough to meet Nick Mitchell that my body started changing and the knowledge he has imparted to me has been utterly life changing. My physique changed so rapidly and although it was by no means effortless (Nick is extremely demanding) the rewards have been there for all to see! I have gone from being the skinny kid in the corner to the one people notice at parties and my confidence has skyrocketed. I had been very active in my teens being a county level swimmer and judo player, however at a combination of university then a demanding career working long hours had meant that any exercise and visits to the gym were sporadic. I had always planned to get round to training specifically for physique, however something had always got in the way and whenever I did manage to go to the gym for any period of time because I had little dietary knowledge I just ended up looking bigger, not toned. At the end of 2008 I had started wearing 36” trousers and made a new years resolution to get the body I’d wanted since my early twenties, I weighed fifteen and a half stone. I started running and cutting out take away and junk food and by the summer had lost nearly two stone. This gave me the motivation to rediscover the goals I’d had for nearly a decade to get toned, but due to many failed past attempts I knew I needed some proper help and advice. What do you feel that you have achieved?
I have gone from 28% body fat to now 16.5% I’m leaner than I have ever been in my life and the fat is still coming off.

What do you feel that you have achieved:
I feel I have achieved and am continuing to achieve my goals of fat loss and the ongoing development of lean muscle. I am still continuing my training programme but have seen improvements continually on a weekly basis.
What have you learned:
I have learned a great deal about training techniques, diet and nutrition from my trainer. In terms of training I have been shown a broad range of techniques to achieve varying goals from fat loss to improving lean muscle, strength training and the like. This has gone along side in depth information regarding diet and nutrition to help me achieve the best results possible from my training. In six weeks, I lost 22lbs of fat, put on 16lbs of muscle, moving from a very chunky28% body fat to a visible stomach muscles 17% body fat and I’m still in the same job, doing the same hours. You cannot achieve results like that on your own. Trust me, I’ve tried. I don’t have decades of experience in personal training and sports nutrition but Nick Mitchell and his UP Fitness team do, and I can tell you they’ll work tirelessly with you to apply that knowledge, so that you can get out of your training the effort you put in. “Nick I wanted to thank you for many things. You have truly changed my life. I have NEVER looked this good and as vain as this is going to sound..I cant stop looking at myself in the mirror. My classes (she was a full time cardio teacher before we weaned her on to weight training – kind of belies the myth that weights will make a woman bulky doesn’t it!) are absolutely packed because I’m in such good shape. Funny thing is because I now look so young not only can people not believe that I have a child, but I’m getting guys in their early 20s hitting on me-ha ha!!!! I find it hilarious. What do you feel that you have achieved:

I came back from my summer holidays last year and after looking at the pictures I realised I was in bad shape. I have always taken care about the way I look and until then, I was reasonably happy with my level of exercise: hitting the treadmill 2 – 3 times per week and keeping myself quite active during the weekend with running or boxing, etc.
The truth was that I felt that I was doing a lot and not getting much reward for it, my body didn’t do my efforts justice and I knew I needed to change things drastically before it got too late.
I felt that just a new training regime wouldn’t do (trust me I followed every Men’s health fitness fat burning workouts they published!) and that I needed a complete re-think around my diet too (the extensive city dining and wining were definitely taking their toll)

I put on weight in the past few years due to no exercise and wrong diet. I felt horrible and unfit. It was my New Year resolution and I determined to lose weight, get fit, get healthy and improve my body shape.
I knew I wanted a hardcore personal trainer. I did some research on the internet and I was certain UP fitness could help me to reach my goal.

I see my body transform to the better shape. It is fantastic. I feel great, healthier, fitter and stronger! I have more energy than ever. I get compliments from people all the time which I am really proud of. All my hard work paid off

“My results have been – for the most part – incredibly tangible. I’m literally three-quarters the man I used to be – I dropped about three and a half stone (50lbs) of bodyweight but actually put on 12lbs of muscle so my real fat loss was 62lbs! Cut my body fat from nearly 30% to around 15% and have gone from wearing XL shirts and 38 inch trousers to Mediums and 30s (on a good day!). I’m also happy that I’ve managed to start to like going to the gym and working out. I was most definitely not a fan of physical effort, but now I feel like something is missing if I’ve not been to the gym. That’s a pretty great achievement.
Given that I was pretty much a complete idiot fitness-wise, I am really pleased that I now feel “at home” in a gym. I may not be putting up huge weights and I am certainly no expert, but I can hold my own. One of my main goals – aside from improving how I look and feel – was to learn what to do in a gym and I think I’ve learned that.
Bottom line: if you’re willing to make a real commitment, you will get real results.”

“A simply unbelievable and life affirming experience”

I was unfit and overweight, with a slowly increasing dress size. I had always been a size 10-12 but more and more was starting to have to look at 12-14. I was unhappy with this but didn’t know where to start in terms of losing fat and getting back into shape.
What do you feel that you have achieved:
The numbers speak for themselves. I have dropped a stone in weight and more than halved my body fat percentage. Importantly for me I also dropped to a dress size 8 which has made me feel so much more confident. My body shape overall has improved and I am starting to see good definition. Apologies if I use the title of a fitness book unrelated to UP, but I really did go from scrawny to brawny all in as little as two months. I had spent time working with personal trainers in London and in the USA but none had ever really “done it” for me. Being lean was always easy for me, but no one knew how to add serious muscle to my body. This all changed when I contacted Nick Mitchell who opened a whole new muscle building for me! (more…)

It helped me idenify where I held most fat and then change my nutrition accordingly.
