Nick Mitchell was recommended to me by Men's Health magazine as the best personal trainer in the UK to get me cover model ready, and after only 5 minutes with him I understood why. He is a fantastic person to help get anyone into the best shape of their lives and his knowledge of the human body blows me away!

Nick Mitchell is certainly one of the best personal trainers that Europe has to offer. Besides walking the talk, his passion and enthusiasm, and depth of experience keeps him at the forefront of the industry and I have no hesitation in referring anyone visiting the UK to be trained under his watchful experienced eye.

I thought I was in pretty good shape until I started personal training with Nick – pain should be his middle name. He pushes me way beyond what I think I’m capable of - he’ll encourage me when needed, wind me up if necessary and sometimes downright piss me off but it works. The fact that my forty-year old frame graced the cover of Men’s Health is down to his encyclopaedic knowledge and no-nonsense training techniques. He’s the go-to guy if you want results. Cheers Nick!

On my trips to London I have found Sav and the Ultimate Performance team to be the only guys in Europe who can give me what I need – a great place to train, fantastic cutting edge advice, and an insight into competitive sports that only comes from years of coaching experience at the highest level. We keep in constant contact because even I can never learn too much about the art and science of building the ultimate physique!

In my assault to reach the British Heavyweight boxing title and beyond there is only man I could turn to give me the extra strength, speed and conditioning necessary to step up to the big league.  Nick’s coaching is scientific, extremely challenging, and the results speak for themselves!

"I was recommended I look up Nick Mitchell before arriving in the UK from Australia.  His knowledge is second to none and is proving extremely useful in getting through another demanding Super League season. In what may be my last season I'm now armed with the information to keep me fit and healthy for life post career."

It is thanks to Nick Mitchell’s expertise, understanding and patience, that I am healthier, fitter and leaner than I was 10 years ago. He taught me that it's not enough to love the body we're in but to respect it too. Upon opening my modelling agency I didn't hesitate to approach Nick to oversee the training of all the International campaign models whose livelihoods depend upon their looking their best at all times. He has excelled himself time and again to be the best of the best in his field.

I have worked with Kosta for many years and the best compliment I can pay to him is that at the end of our professional partnership we became friends. Kosta is a very motivated individual with great working ethics. He is constantly challenging the person he works with through new ideas, and he does that with care and excellent interpersonal skills. I recommend Kosta highly! Christian Lattanzio MCFC Technical Co-ordinator

Nick has a superb gym and a great attitude to training.  Anyone who trains at his place can be assured of some proper training, which requires effort to reach their goals and not fobbed off with a watered down session and a good gossip as with every other personal training gym I have ever seen!!!

Why do I need help achieving my fitness goals?

We think that exercise, fitness, good nutrition and overall health and well-being should be a fairly simple subject, and we certainly always endeavour to make it as accessible and relevant as possible to all our clients. However, we also live in a world where we are beset by a myriad of stresses, where our quality of life and health are compromised by everything from the poor air we breathe in to the xeno estrogens coming off the plastic from the containers of the water that we drink.

If you are a man, the very fact that you have 25% less testosterone than your grandfather had at your age isn’t just a problem of fertility. It has massive knock on effects to the rest of your body, making it difficult to build muscle or lose fat, causing depression and low sex drive, and creating the almost inevitable man boobs. This isn’t just an unsightly and embarrassing condition – it is also the reason why male breast cancer is massively on the increase.

Women don’t fare all that much better. The number of female clients who walk through our doors desperate to shift so-called “impossible to lose” localised deposits of body fat is a testament to the confusion and misguided advice that proliferates the mainstream fitness market. They can’t figure out why they have them despite living supposedly healthy lives. The answer is simple – their hormones are totally out of alignment and their hard work only ever seems to make their problems worse. Invariably they work too hard in ways that are actually counterproductive to their long term goals.

As if this wasn’t enough, how many of you can answer that you regularly sleep for an uninterrupted 8 hours at a time? How many of you have perfect digestion so that you can assimilate all the nutrients you eat (hint – in the USA it is estimated that 98% of all adults have impaired digestion that can lead to an array of external and internal physical problems)? These are conditions that we have the knowledge to readily rectify, but if left unchecked do nothing but speed up the aging process, deteriorate the physique, and severely impinge upon overall quality of life.

Not to be a doom monger but on top of this we have the curse of the internet age – information overload. It’s easy, in fact it is incredibly easy, to find information on how to lose those love handles or add an inch to your biceps, but how do you ever know which is the best course of action for you. The internet abounds with armchair experts and they all have a theory, a pet cause and an agenda. And then of course, all one needs to do is to walk into any gym and there are the inevitable personal trainers willing and eager to give you (often conflicting) advice. We all need a trusted source to come to for advice, which is in part why we have gone the extra mile with this website to demonstrate, and not just talk about, our level of knowledge and expertise. If you are interested in how to pick a good personal trainer we have written an article on the subject, but a good basic rule of thumb for verifying anyone’s credentials in this industry, be they purported internet or real life fitness experts is to follow these simple rules:

1. What do they look like themselves? If they can’t train and condition themselves then how can they coach, educate and inspire you?

2. Who do they work with? A few anonymous testimonials are, to be frank, meaningless. Have they worked with people who demand the best, people’s whose careers rest on their being healthy and in the best shape possible. If a trainer is entrusted with a client whose body is a multi-million dollar commodity, you know you are in a safe pair of hands.
What’s the difference between you and all the other trainers I see in the gyms?

Not to repeat ourselves here, but take a quick reread of the two points made above.

The Ultimate Performance team is made up of individuals who are all in fantastic shape and who can both talk the talk, and walk the walk. It hasn’t been easy assembling such a group – top level sportsmen (world championship medal winners, professional athletes) with the academic grounding to be up to date on all the latest developments in sports science and nutrition don’t grow on trees. But we are relentless in our pursuit of perfection as we know that our business lives and dies by one thing only – our ability to consistently and quickly produce world class results for our clients.

We also follow a philosophy that in a nutshell can be described as “leaving nothing to chance”. Anyone of our clients can expect us to take care of every aspect of their physical conditioning. Our work unequivocally does not stop when you exit the gym door. In fact it is only just beginning as what you do in those 23 hours of the day you are not exercising will determine so much of the progress you make. We have systems in place whereby we strip out all that is arbitrary, we gauge and track progress in the most methodical manner in the industry and constantly tweak training, nutritional, supplement, and recovery programmes to ensure that the line of progress is steady and transparent.

This is an approach that doesn’t just yield sometimes spectacular results, it has also lead to our being endorsed by individuals who are the world leaders in the field of physical excellence and coaching, such as the man nations go to when they want gold medals Charles Poliquin, world class physique athletes such as Ronnie Coleman, and has given us testimonials from some of the leading lights in the fashion and beauty industry, who dare not take a chance with their physical appearance and must be prepared for events with minimal preparation time.

Are you really so special? What are your results?

Yes, we really are very good. Let’s cut through the BS and look at a few statistics:

Our average fat loss client drops over 18lbs (9kg) of fat in their first 10 weeks with us. They usually add a little bit of muscle too, so their metabolism shifts upwards.

Our average fat loss client drops over 33lbs (15kg) of fat in their first 6 months with us. This is steady long term weight loss that is caused by our “resetting” of the client’s metabolism.

Our average weight gain for a client aiming to put on muscle is 19lbs (9kg+). Please note that this is an average as some clients have put on over 25lbs whilst still retaining a pleasing level of lean conditioning.

Our results for putting on muscle and stripping away fat are best exemplified by our roster of clients in bodybuilding – the ultimate test of a trainer’s ability to get someone into peak condition. Our record is without exaggeration one of the best in the world, and the Ultimate Performance team has advised and trained Mr Olympia competitors, Mr Universe and World Champion winners, and over a dozen champions of Britain
.
We are responsible for the bodies that grace many of the leading fashion and beauty magazines and campaigns and Nick Mitchell is regarded as THE fitness and conditioning adviser to London’s modelling community.
